Jones’ wife is a former interior decorator and designed the taproom’s style, even the light bulbs, Geer said. “Usually, you have to go to the Ryman, you’ve got to go somewhere that’s designed specifically.” “You can’t find that at a bar,” Geer said about the acoustics. The taproom has the ability to record live music, he said. The wood paneling in the taproom was taken from the John Bragg site and engineered by a master wood crafter to absorb sound for the live music aspect. Virtually every aspect of the site was carefully planned, Geer said. The facility plans to use an incinerator to burn spent hops to create electricity, Geer said. Solid waste is disposed of on-site with a custom-built STEP sewer system, Sullivan said. For now, the taproom is open Wednesday through Sunday. Most of the activities will open in the spring once the weather improves. There is plenty of land for growth, so staff members’ imaginations are the only limit. Hop Springs is located on 83 acres and plans to open two dog parks, a wedding venue, disc golf course and hiking trail, Sullivan said. For now, all the beers are brewed at the flagship Franklin location, which was founded in 2015.Īs if cold beer, music and food were not enough of a draw, Hop Springs is into environmental stewardship, collegiate education and agritourism.
